The idea of this new series named 'Void' starts when Sam found beautiful grain in the middle of a wooden block during carving a bowl then he had to remove the beautiful part in order to make a shape that he had originally planned. He has been thinking about the negative part when the wood is carved and shaped since then. And it leads him to find a way to present the maximum amount of the surface that a piece of bowl can have so more beautiful characters can be presented in the bowl.

Those circle holes on wooden mills are windows that reveals inside structure. Also, those the contour line like horizontal textures on new vases are the similar vein to the idea of capturing hidden beautiful characters by presenting its maximum surface.
